God or Nothing
By Robert Cardinal
Sarah
Robert
Cardinal Sarah was born in Guinea, West Africa. Missionary priests had brought
the Faith to his remote village. He felt called to the priesthood and entered
the seminary, but due to oppression of the Church by the Government of Guinea,
he continued his education outside his homeland – in France, Senegal, Rome and
Jerusalem.
At 34 years
of age, he became the youngest Bishop in the Catholic Church; then in 1979 was
appointed Archbishop of Conakry, Guinea by Pope St. John Paul II. His
predecessor had been imprisoned for several years and when Sarah was targeted
for assassination, he was called back to Rome; in 2010 he was named a Cardinal
in the Catholic Church by Pope Benedict XV.
In this
autobiographical book, he gives witness to his Catholic Faith and addresses
many controversial issues of our day with wisdom and eloquence.
All are welcome to join in the conversation. The Saint Olaf Book Club meets in the Office Conference room from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm.
