Triumph by H.W. Crocker III
Chapters 1- 12 for February 9
A grand view
of the Catholic Church’s history through the first two millennia. Concise and informative,
intended for the general reader, it is presented with insight and wit. It
begins with Peter, the first pope, and takes us through the pontificate of John
Paul II. We’re captivated by stories of the Roman Empire and the first popes
(most of them saints), Medieval times, epic battles, and heroic saints. We
learn of the heresies that threatened the early church, as well as the
divisions caused by schisms, the Reformation, and other crises. In the end, this history reminds us of the
enduring wisdom and truth of the Catholic faith. According to Crocker, a
convert to Catholicism, the history of the Catholic Church is the most
extraordinary story ever told.
H.W. Crocker
III is a journalist and author of many books.
