Share your Voice in Support of affordable housing. Sign the petition at https://www.cctwincities.org/advocate/take-action-now.
Over
the years St. Olaf has supported advocacy efforts based on Catholic social
teaching. Action alerts generated by the Office for Social Justice of Catholic
Charities have provided an avenue to share voices of concern with elected
officials and other decisions makers. Housing issues rise to the top due to the
parish’s decades long ministry for those experiencing homelessness,
participation in Habitat for Humanity, and related support for our next door
neighbors at Exodus. Of course the emphasis on housing received a St. Olaf
Exclamation Point recently through the commitment to develop nearly 200 units
of affordable housing on our campus.
Joan
Miltenberger (for new folks-formerly of St. Olaf and now with the Office for
Social Justice) has reached out to invite folks to share their voice as the
final stretch of the current legislative session gets into full gear. She has
provided a link to a petition in support of housing. Click on this link
https://www.cctwincities.org/advocate/take-action-now/,
and then click on the box “Commit to housing this session.” The text of the
petition will pop up for your review. Fill in your HOME information and then
click “Sign the petition.” It is very quick and easy. Please complete by May 15.
Certainly,
if you have an interest in more extensive communication with your elected
representatives, please feel free. Many voices build a strong chorus of support
and impact policy in important ways. Let me know if you have any questions.
