Mere Christianity
By C.S. Lewis

As a young man, Clive Staples Lewis had served in the trenches of World War I, and in 1942 when the infamous “blitz” of World War II began in Britain, he served as an air raid warden and was asked to give talks to the men in the Royal Air Force whose lives were especially at risk. Lewis chose to speak to them about the universal problems of faith, suffering, pain, and evil. As a result, the BBC invited Lewis to deliver a series of wartime broadcasts to the war-weary British people. Delivered over the air from 1942 to 1944, these speeches have been gathered into the book titled “Mere Christianity”.

Considering that Lewis had been an atheist before converting to Christianity, he was particularly able to present a powerful, rational case for the Christian faith. His words were taken to heart by Christians of all denominations and non-Christians alike.

Mere Christianity is one of the most popular introductions to the Christian faith ever written – it has   sold millions of copies worldwide.

Clive Staples Lewis (1898 – 1963), a professor at Oxford and Cambridge Universities, was one of the intellectual giants of the twentieth century and one of the most influential writers of his day.
